4 Fall Hidden Gems of Sedona
Northern Arizona in fall is pure magic — cool mornings, warm afternoons, and that soft golden glow over the red rocks. This season, we shared a few of our favorite “if you know, you know” spots in our newsletter, and we’re bringing them here so you can easily save them for your next trip.
These are the places we go back to again and again.
The Chai Spot - Tlaquepaue, Sedona, AZ
1. The Chai Spot
Cozy, Colorful, and Full of Heart
If you want a quiet moment that feels like a hug, The Chai Spot in Tlaquepaque is it. Floor pillows, layered textiles, twinkle lights — it has this peaceful, grounded energy that makes you instantly exhale.
Their signature Karak Chai is warm, creamy, and lightly spiced, brewed in small batches all day. The Rose Chai Latte feels like a little vacation in a cup.
What we love most: every purchase helps support education and community programs for women and children in Pakistan. So you’re not just grabbing a drink; you’re doing a little good at the same time.
Our go-tos:
Karak Chai
Rose Chai Latte
Perfect for:
A slow fall morning, post-Tlaquepaque stroll, or a cozy reset between adventures.
Willow’s Kitchen & Wine Bar - Poco Diablo, Sedona, AZ
2. Willows Kitchen & Wine Bar at Poco Diablo
Elevated Comfort with Red Rock Views
Tucked inside Poco Diablo Resort, Willows Kitchen & Wine Bar has been one of those spots that feels like a true Sedona “find.” Warm interiors, a relaxed wine-bar vibe, and those classic red rock views — it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger.
The menu leans into elevated comfort: beautifully plated seasonal dishes, thoughtfully crafted cocktails, and a wine list that makes it very easy to say “yes” to one more glass.
What we loved from our visits:
Smoked short rib and other cozy mains
Fresh, bright salads that still feel hearty
Espresso martinis that never disappoint
Perfect for:
Date night, celebrations, or a “we deserve something special” dinner while you’re in town.
Update: Willows recently closed as part of Poco Diablo’s transformation into Outbound Sedona, with a full property refresh planned before reopening. We’re leaving this here because it’s been such a memorable part of fall in Sedona for us — and we’re very curious to see what the next chapter looks like.
Fay Canyon - Sedona, AZ
3. Fay Canyon
An Easy Trail with Big Payoff
If you’re looking for a trail that’s actually family-friendly but still gives you that “wow, we’re really in Sedona” feeling, Fay Canyon is such a gem.
It’s mostly flat, shaded, and beautiful from the very first steps — canyon walls rising around you, dappled light, and just enough adventure without being a grind. At the end, you can explore the rocky area or do a quick scramble for more elevated views.
Why we keep recommending it:
Super accessible for kids and mixed-ability groups
Feels quiet and peaceful in the fall
Great photo spots without a big climb
Short enough to pair with lunch, shopping, or another light activity
Trail notes:
Approx. 2.3 miles round-trip
Out-and-back, easy terrain
Pack water, even in cooler weather — it’s still the desert
Aspens in Flagstaff
4. Aspen Season in Flagstaff
A Golden Day Trip from Sedona
One of our favorite fall “extras” is heading up to Flagstaff for a totally different landscape — and those iconic aspens.
About 90 minutes from Sedona, you’ll find cooler temps, mountain air, and groves of white-trunked aspens that turn the brightest gold. Whether you head toward Snowbowl or some of the popular forest roads and trailheads, it’s an easy way to add that classic “fall color” moment to your Sedona stay.
Why we love the Sedona–Flagstaff combo:
Mornings in the red rocks, afternoons in the mountains
Aspen groves that are stunning in both early color and bare, wintry form
Great for photos, little hikes, and just wandering in the woods
Perfect for:
Leaf peepers, families wanting a “real fall” feel, and anyone who loves a good scenic drive.
